156th Annual Goodhue County Fair August 8-12

The Goodhue County Fair kicks off next week with a Lawn Mower Derby on Tuesday evening at 7pm in the grandstand. Other grandstand events through the week include a Demolition derby on Wednesday at 7pm, a truck and tractor pull on Thursday at 6:30pm. Friday night features four acts at the grandstand, starting at 6:30pm with Diesel Drive, Maiden Dixie, Josh Thompson and headliner Mark Chesnutt. Saturday caps off the week with a demolition derby at 6pm.

Merriam’s Midway with rides and games will be open Tuesday from 6 to 10pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 11pm and Friday and Saturday from 1 to 11pm. Ride tickets are on sale 10 for $5.00 and a wristband is available Wed through Friday for $20 a day for unlimited rides.

Musical entertainment at the beer garden will feature Dave Carpenter & Friends on Wednesday at 6:30pm, Ray Sands Band at 5pm on Friday and Fire at the Falls on Saturday at 9pm.

There will be free entertainment all week with the FFA children’s barnyard, Mitchell Marionettes and Wild Things Zoo attractions. Livestock showing and judging will take place all week as well.

Thursday is family day and the Goodhue County Commissioners meeting will be held at 10am. A drawing for kid’s bikes will be held at 5:30pm and the 4-H cat, dog and pet show will be at 7:30pm.

Friday is Senior Citizen Day and there is a Euchre tournament at 1pm, the Goodhue County Dairy Association coffee and cheese cake contest At 1:30pm. The outstanding Senior award will be announced at 7pm.

Saturday is dairy day with a Princess Kay program at 3pm. Kids activities, games, dairy food samples and a Dairy Princess reunion scheduled from 1 to 5pm. A drawing for kid’s bikes will be at 4pm.
