Albert Myron Remme

Albert Myron Remme, 90, of Dennison, Minnesota died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his home. He was born January 24, 1927 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Martin and Mabel (Baker) Remme. Albert was baptized and confirmed at Vang Lutheran Church. He attended Kenyon High School and farmed with his dad on the family farm in Warsaw Township. Albert married Evelyn Armstrong on October 6, 1951 at the parsonage of Rev. Hanes in Dundas, Minnesota. At the age of 27, Albert was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii where served as a Heavy Equipment Operator during the Korean War. Norma Lee Harmon

Norma Lee Harmon, age 74 of rural Dennison, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 22, 2017, in Rochester, Minnesota. Norma Lee Harmon was born January 14, 1943, in Plum City, Wisconsin, to Leo and Dorothy (Traynor] Harmon. She was raised on the family farm near Arkansaw, Wisconsin, and attended country school. She graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1961 and attended Eau Claire Technical Institute for Business Office Procedures. Following her education, she worked for Northwest Airlines. In 1963, Lee married David Schlosser. After marriage, they lived in Minneapolis. In 1976, they moved to Webster, Minnesota, and Lee worked for the Northfield school district. Luther Marvin Quale

Luther Marvin Quale, age 84 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday evening, May 21, 2017 at Reflections-End of Life Care in Northfield, surrounded by his family. Luther was born on July 11, 1932, the son of Peter and Marianne (Flormoe) Quale. Luther proudly served with the US Army. Luther married Edith "Dolly" (Wangen) on June 6, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. He worked in construction with Steberg Construction, Wanamingo and later for Holm Bros. Construction, Goodhue. He was a boilerman for Mineral Springs Sanitarium, owned and operated Quale Excavating, and did road maintenance for 43 years with Warsaw Township in Goodhue County. Doris N. Flom

Doris N. Flom, age 86, of Dennison, died on Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2017 at the Northfield Care Center. Doris was born on September 28, 1930 at home, in rural Dennison south of Sogn, to Albert and Eva (Urevig) Quam. She attended District 52, a one-room school until the eighth grade and then graduated from Kenyon High School in 1948. Following school Doris worked at The Sogn Store. On June 21, 1952 she married Lester Flom at the Urland Lutheran Church. For 62 years, Doris and Lester found true partnership in life and farming. Doris will be remembered most for her love of family. She had a passion for many things. Doris loved working in her flower gardens and sharing her plants with others.  Arlene H. Hildebrandt, age 85, formerly of the Nerstrand area, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her home in Northfield, MN, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Nerstrand United Methodist Church. Rev. Lora Sturm, officiated. Interment was held at the Nerstrand Evangelical Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services. Marilyn Haugen, age 83 of Dennison, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 2nd at the Dennison Lutheran Church with burial at Valley Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7:00 pm Wednesday at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the Church on Thursday 1 hour prior to Services. Marilyn Lavonne Haugen was born November 6, 1933 in Farmington, MN, daughter of Kenneth and Clara (Pautz) Millam. Doris E. Grant, 94 passed away at the Long Term Care Center in Northfield, Thursday December 22, 2016. Dori was born August 27th, 1922 to Austin O. Strand and Ida Strand of Dennison, MN. An only child, Dori spent much of her time at the Family business in Dennison, Strand Motors. She attended and graduated from Northfield High School. She attended St. Olaf College three years and then a year at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Psychology and Sociology Degree. On the school bus her freshmen year she met Granville Grant. High School sweethearts, Dori and Granville R. Grant would marry on August 11th, 1944 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Richard Ingersoll, age 48 of Nerstrand, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 2, 2017, in Northfield. Richard James Ingersoll was born October 18, 1968, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Richard and Kathy (Wertman) Ingersoll.  He was raised in Council Bluffs and as an adolescent moved with his family to Burnsville.  He graduated from Burnsville High School in 1987 and attended St. Cloud State University.  On August 30, 1991, Richard married Karla Aamodt and the couple made their home in Burnsville before moving to Florida and later Oklahoma.  Richard spent several years working with his father at Strawberry Fields Ice Cream Shoppe before returning to Minnesota in 1997.  Richard and Karla lived in Farmington until moving to Nerstrand in 1999.  Richard worked in sales most of his career … [Read more...]

Caroline A. Himes, age 96, of Cannon Falls, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Centracare Health in Paynesville, Minnesota. Caroline Amanda Himes was born on May 17, 1920, in Dennison, the daughter of Lars and Marie (Njos) Berg. She was baptized and confirmed at the Urland Lutheran Church. Caroline attended country school through the eighth grade and then started work as a hired girl for farm families. She moved to Minneapolis, living there for a short time, and then returned to Cannon Falls where she lived and raised her family. Caroline was an active member of First English Lutheran Church. She did volunteer work for the Food Shelf and also for her church. She worked for a time at the Mineral Springs Sanatorium and then for Kid Duds. Lonnie A. Bauernfeind, age 68, of Hanover, New Mexico, died on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Gila Regional Medical Center, Silver City, New Mexico.
