Margaret J. Peterson

Margaret J. Peterson, age 89, of Northfield, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Three Links Care Center. Margaret was born June 2, 1927 in Northfield the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Magee) Vandenheuvel. She was raised in Dennison and graduated from Northfield High School class of 1945. She then attended Hamlin University. Margaret was united in marriage to Donald Peterson on August 16, 1947. The couple made their home in Northfield Township where they raised award winning hogs, a variety of livestock and crops. Margaret also worked at the Northfield Hospital and as an after school care provider. They moved from the family farm to a house in Northfield in 2003. Donald passed away February 9, 2015. Violet ‘Vi’ Esther Segerstrom

Violet “Vi” Esther Segerstrom, age 81, of Faribault died on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her home. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church, Nerstrand on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Don Kloster officiated. Interment was held at Valley Grove Cemetery, Nerstrand. Visitation was at the church for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Violet Esther, the daughter of Bernard and Louise (Schumann) Faelske, was born on March 21, 1935 in Waterville. Vi grew up on local farms until moving to Minneapolis in her adulthood and worked at IDS Financial for 13 years. While working, she met Howard Segerstrom and they were married on October 27, 1962 before moving to Lonsdale. Gloria Swanson

Gloria Swanson, age 70 of Minnetonka and formerly of Northfield, passed away peacefully at her home in Minnetonka Sunday September 18th, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Gloria Jean (Amy) Swanson was born December 27, 1945 in Preston, MN daughter of Lon and Carol (Woodle) Amy. After moving several times throughout her childhood, Gloria graduated from Northfield High School in 1964. The following year, Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Danny Swanson of Dundas on December 30, 1965. Gloria and Danny moved to California and then South Carolina during Danny’s time in the service, returning to Minnetonka in 1970. Mary Ann Flom, age 64 of Dennison, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Mary Ann was born on August 8, 1952 in Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of Albert N. and Myrtle M. (Brown) Froseth. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1969. She married Leroy Fischer and they had four children together. They later divorced. She married Evan L. Flom on May 11, 1991 at Urland Lutheran Church. Mary enjoyed quilting, canning, baking, and sewing. She and Evan sold their wares at the Dennison Farmer's Market and craft shows in the area. Rolland ‘Rollie’ Howie

Rolland “Rollie” Howie was born June 14, 1954 in Northfield, Minnesota, to Edward and Florence (Kyllo) Howie. He was raised on a family farm near Dennison and worked on the farm milking cows, driving tractor as well as other chores. Rollie graduated from Northfield High School in 1972, and then enrolled at Dunwoody College of Technology where he studied to become an electrician. He began working for Doc’s Electrical in Northfield and later joined the St. Paul’s IBEW Union where he worked in the metro area as well as in Hastings. While working for 3M Chemolite, Rollie began his own electrical business, Howie Electric. His business grew increasingly successful and soon became his full-time profession. Dolores J. ‘Dee’ Hille

Dolores J. “Dee” Hille, age 86 of Webster, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Northfield Retirement Community. Dee was born April 26, 1930, at the old Northfield Hospital on Water Street, to George and Evelyn (Ohs) Errington.  She was baptized into faith and later confirmed her faith at Randolph Methodist Church.  She attended one year of country school, Randolph Public School – graduating with her class, and the Minnesota School of Business. Cynthia Fay "Cindy" Lichty, age 70 of Baldwin, WI and formerly of Cannon Falls and Hastings, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 24, 2016. Cindy was born on May 1, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Bertel "Sam" and Fay (Krage) Gilje. She attended her early years of school in Cannon Falls, and following the death of her father when Cindy was 11 years old, she and her mother lived for a time with her father's parents, Christian and Karina Gilje, on their farm near Dennison. Cindy then graduated from high school in Winona in 1964. She followed in her mother's footsteps and attended the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester. Austin Lockrem, age 90 of Northfield, passed away with his wife and family by his side on Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016, at the care center of the Northfield Retirement Community. Austin Carroll Lockrem was born February 3, 1926, on the family farm near Dennison, Minnesota, to Austin and Malvina (Estrem) Lockrem. He was baptized and confirmed at Vang Lutheran Church and attended District #53 county school. On September 30, 1948, Austin married Louise Ruff at Vang Lutheran Church. After marriage they made their home in Northfield and Austin worked for area farmers. In 1952, he began working at Lampert’s Lumber Yard and remained there until retiring in 1992. Donald C. Bollenbach, 88, of Knob Noster, MO, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Lenoir Woods Skilled Nursing Center in Columbia, MO. Donald was born March 31, 1928 in Faribault, MN, the son of Lyle C. and Anna (Amacher) Bollenbach. After graduating from Faribault High School, he spent several years farming before serving four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was united in marriage on October 29, 1950 to Nelda E. Wolf in Washington, D.C. Following his separation from the Air Force, he began employment with the Bank of Knob Noster, MO where he attained the position of Vice President and Cashier before retiring in December of 1990 after 33 years of service to the community. Thomas, age 59, of Dennison, died on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 9:45 a.m. at his sister’s home in Faribault with his son, Adam and two sisters, Julie and Linda by his side after battling multiple medical issues. Memorial services will be held at Bethel Ridge Church, Faribault on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Dan Lazicki officiating. Memorial visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
