Elwood Arthur Lips, age 98, of Faribault, died on Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home.
Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Peter Gueldner officiated. Visitation was from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Reception and visitation time continued immediately following the funeral service. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Elwood Arthur, son of Arthur George and Bertha Elizabeth (Amacher) Lips was born on April 27, 1925, in Kenyon. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1943. Elwood married Delores A. Vircks on June 7, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, Wisconsin. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm in Wheeling Township. Elwood was a dedicated member of the National Farmers Organization and Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an elder.
He is survived by seven children; Mark (and Judy) Lips of Minnetonka, Marcia (and Bill) Barrett of Faribault, Barbara Hendricks of Edina, Randy (and LanLan) Lips of Apple Valley, Gary (and Marcia) Lips of Alexandria, Bruce (and Cheryl) Lips of Prior Lake and Bryan (and Tammy) Lips of Faribault; daughter in law, Bonnie Qualley of Owatonna; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; one son, Ronald Lips; his grandson, Jason Hendricks; and his sisters, Marjory Foster, Ruth Lips, Elaine Zimmerman, and Lorraine Stanek.
The Lips family would especially like to thank the staff at Mill City Senior Living and Brighton Hospice for the care given to Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault.
