Kenyon Country Club Welcomes You!

Posted

When you think of a Country Club, your mind goes to golf, right? Well, I'm here to tell you, the Kenyon Country Club is golf and a whole lot more! Located on Highway 56 North as you are heading out of Kenyon, look to your right and you will see the sign to the entrance.

I stopped in to check it out, and was met with some very friendly employees, of which there are six who are all locals, and a couple of members who wish to remain anonymous. I asked the members what they like about the club, and they were quite happy to say that the club was a great place to hit some balls. "It's a fun and relaxing course that is very well kept, both inside and out. It is open to the public, and they have a great golfing special, too." The golf special they were referring to is that on Monday and Tuesday each week, you can come out and play 18 holes with a cart thrown in, for only $35.00.

As we were chatting, Dawn and Connie were there to answer some questions, too. Dawn Berquam has been working there for 14 years. First as an employee, and then as a manager for the past 3 years. She is also a para at the KW school. Connie has been working in the clubhouse for the past 10 years, and really enjoys her time there. It is a seasonal job in a beautiful place, helping people have fun. What more could you want? The business is run by the membership board, and they make all the decisions. There is a small bar in the clubhouse which overlooks the course, and ice cream, too!

Some of the other uses for the course are personal golf outings, family reunions, graduation parties, weddings and showers, class reunions, and a Social Membership. All these events can be catered by Area 57, Angies, and Blondie's Butcher Shop, as there is no cooking onsite.

What is a Social Membership, you ask? Well over the years, 25 to 30 women would come out to golf together, and found they enjoyed each others' company. They formed a club to which, for $45 a seasonal membership (May to September), they could come out every Wednesday, and either golf, or play cards and games, or just socialize over a lunch catered by Area 57 in Wanamingo. The lunch is $15.00, and if you've been to Area 57, you know it's good! For more information on the membership, tee times, booking an event, or anything else you need to know, just call 507-789-6307 and one of the staff will be able to answer your questions.

Everyone is welcome at the Country Club, including kids. So come on over and check out the course for your golfing pleasure , or to book your event! See you there!
